︎︎︎Positions in Contemporary Art: Europe Across Borders

Michaela Šindlerová is currently an MFA student at Goldsmiths College and has previously obtained her BA from the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. She is a Czech-born abstract painter whose work explores personal and collective mythologies. Interweaving language and symbolism, she investigates how contemporary narratives intersect with historical myths in shaping cultural memory by examining the determining forces that shape human experience - ideas of fate, nationality, and gender. Drawing on her background as a female painter from a post-Soviet country, she subtly incorporates Slavic mythological elements to reflect on such a role.

Šindlerová work has previously been the subject of exhibitions held at The Handbag Factory; Greatorex; FILET; Plant Room; Hartslane (all London, 2025); Platforma 15, Prague (2025); ART PRAGUE: International Art Fair; M6 Gallery (both Prague, 2024); Galerie U Betlémské kaple – Lapidárium; Gallery NIKA (both Prague 2023); TAR, Porto; Galeria Geraldos da Silva and Artes (all Porto, 2022), among others.
